For the three classes I'm taking this semester, I have to purchase seven required books. The cost adds up quickly with seven books to buy.
My three classes are English Composition I, Beginning French, and Precalculus.
English isn't so bad, I only have two books, moderately priced for being books ($50 and $20 new). For Precalculus, I'm only required one book (the main textbook, which is $80 new, pretty typical for a math book), but I think the solution manual would come in handy ($46 new)...
French is the WORSE. I'm required to have not only the main book ($120 new - which comes with two audio CDs), but also the workbook ($71 new), answer key ($7.65 new), and some kind of CD set, or something ($33.35 new). That adds up to $232 dollars, if I bought it all new. HOLY COW. Even if I bought at the 'used' price, it'd still be about $200.
So instead of paying a lot of money for brand spanking new books from the school bookstore (or even their used ones), I decided to hit up Amazon.com - and oh, the savings!
Though they're all used, they're all in pretty good condition. I wouldn't even glance at a listing if it didn't say at least "Used - Very Good" next to it.
English, instead of costing me up to $70, would only cost me $24.99 plus shipping and handling. Math, only
$9.29 - and that's including purchasing a solution manual! Can you believe it?! I'm not sure if I can. ha XD
French was still going to cost the most (duh - three books and a CD set), but buying through Amazon would only cost me $110.70 + s/h.
YESSSS!!!!!!!
I haven't bought them yet because I need to wait 'til my next paycheck, which is next week... but school is only two-and-a-half weeks away, so I'm going to ask my parents if they would pay for them, seeing as I would pay them back as soon as my check gets deposited. It should work out well.
I feel so clever.

Lucky you. I can't get my textbooks from the internet, even if I can the shipping is going to kill me.

oh yes, I do love Amazon textbooks. What I love even more is that I can sell my books there when I'm done and get double, sometimes triple, what I would get from the bookstore.

Ooh snap. Well I had no idea you could get used college textbooks off of Amazon either. That's good news for me though, glad I figured this out ahead of time lol. That is CRAZY about the math book...ridiculous discount. Did you just search Amazon for the titles, easy as that?

Aw man. This post makes me want to go back to school and be all...scholastic XD
And, did you get the textbooks from half.com? I think Amazon runs that site and they have the cheapest effing textbooks ever.
Also, thanks for the comments about the shawl and my song. The song is "Relief" by the now defunct band Denali. I loooove that shawl, I got it from Avon years ago when my mom was an Avon lady (heh) and even though it's getting shabby I can't bear to get rid of it.
